On January 19, 2023, millions of French workers across the country and hundreds of thousands in Paris, mostly representing transportation and teacher unions, took to the streets to protest proposed pension reforms by French president Emanuel Macron that would raise the retirement age from 60-64 and disproportionally impact low-income workers in the country.
