The execution of George Floyd by the Minneapolis police department on May 25, 2020, ignited nationwide protests demanding justice and reform, rallying around the Black Lives Matter movement that started after the 2014 murder of Trayvon Martin. Demonstrations were exacerbated further by the murders of Breonna Taylor, Amir Locke, and hundreds of other Black people at the hands of the police. It is 2023, nothing has changed. In 2023, Tyre Nichols was beaten to death in a manner viciously similar to Rodney King in 1991.
How can this be reformed?
